If you do it, you reap the rewards. If you don’t, you don’t.
Believing -vs- Knowing
There is a key distinction.
In various settings, people naturally ask "What do you do?"
When I tell them, so many say they believe or know that meditation is beneficial.
I ask “How do you know? Do you practice?”
Most say, I used to do it…and it was really good, really useful.
"Ahhh" I say…"so now you think you know, but you don’t actually know; because that only comes from experience. From regular practice."
Some people however, say "yes", they practice.
They’re the ones that truly know. And benefit.
I wish that you are one of these people. That you know. From experience.
If you believe that meditation is good for you, then you don't know.
Just like physical exercise, 'fitness' is one of the rewards:
If you do it, you reap the rewards.
If you don’t, you don’t.
In the case of meditation (training attention + attitude), it’s about doing the not doing.
In formal practice, it’s about simply being; a human being (not doing).
Settled, stable, grounded…quiet, aware, alert; whilst developing a better understanding of yourself…and how your mind works.
It’s very simple, yet tantalisingly interesting.
Look outside and dream.
Look inside and awaken.
