The attention economy is worth Trillion$$$
We are all in the ATTENTION economy. It is worth trillions of dollars $$$.
Social media & tech companies want your attention.
Not only do they know how to get it, they’re keeping it for longer...suggesting purchases along the way.
For those of you of a similar vintage to me, it’s really noticeable with younger folk, isn’t it? They’re glued.
It’s easy to look outside and say ‘those kids are glued to their devices’ and claim some higher moral ground. But really, how about your own digital digest each day...is it nurturing you?
Do you ever reach an info-overload point? I’m curious to learn what that is…and what this actually means for you – is it when you realise you’re watching a cat video in a national park, or you’re mentally exhausted. Do reply and share.
No point talking about the bad news without...
The GOOD NEWS.
The ‘realising’ part, is the key here.
What you don’t notice, you can’t change.
And funnily enough, this is where meditation comes in ;)
After (persistently) training concentration, step 2 is awareness.
This is where you become more mindful, awake, attentive…and notice more of what is happening for you. At this time. In the present moment.
To notice where you are, how you’re feeling, what you’re doing…is a great way to connect to your purpose (if you have one) and to fall AWAKE to the life as it’s happening, moment by moment.
The usual alternative, is being lost in thought.
Step 3 is equanimity. Let’s explore more about this next time.
So, meditation trains your ability to notice more. From there, so many things open up. Only through experience, will you know.
