Dealing with uncertainty.
Insight into uncertainty.
Outside your window, people are acting in ways that you can’t control.
Forces of nature are moving in ways that you can’t anticipate. And trillions of cells within your body are interacting in ways that you don’t even acknowledge, much less comprehend.
It's the thoughts about uncertainty that are stressing people.
GOOD NEWS: While you cannot control what thoughts enter your mind, you can control what you do with them.
Like learning to surf.
Embracing uncertainty is like learning to surf - you can’t control the waves, but you can learn to ride them. Here are some techniques to help you navigate the unknown with confidence:
Accept what you can’t control – Instead of resisting uncertainty, acknowledge that it’s a natural part of life. Trying to control everything is like trying to herd cats - it’s exhausting and rarely successful.
Focus on what you can control – While the future may be unpredictable, your actions and mindset are within your grasp. Prioritise what’s in front of you rather than worrying about what’s beyond your reach.
Practice mindfulness – Staying present helps prevent your mind from spiraling into worst-case scenarios. Breathe, observe, and remind yourself that you’re okay in this moment.
You will most likely continue to hear that uncertainty is stressful, and millions of people will panic based on what’s taking place not in their surroundings but in their heads.
As you meditate, you will develop mental composure and insight. And thankfully, through insight, you have more ability to remain steady, amid all the upcoming uncertainty. You may even be excited by it.
Workplace meditation is a wonderful tool for friendly co-operation with your colleagues. Only good will come from it.
