The most important thing you do.

Is there anything more important than your breath?

During your entire life, wherever you go, whatever you do...you're body is breathing (not you).

How you do it, makes a big difference.

Breathing up and down from your chest (or thoracic - the longest part of your spine) is called dysfunctional breathing.

Scientifically put: your heart rate rises, blood pressure increases, it's shallower and puts your body out of balance. It's a breeding ground for anxiety.

Try it...take 5 deep breaths with your chest and shoulders rising up and down.

Did any of the above symptoms develop? They sure did.

Functional breathing.

This is where you engage the belly (or diaphragm); so that it expands and contracts while the chest goes out and in, not up and down.

It self-regulates your body and develops homeostasis, necessary for good health.

You'll remain more stable; better able to deal with the ups and downs of work, life...and whatever comes your way.

And remember, just like everyone else; you have ups and downs all your life.

You'll work it out; you always do.

Consider all the problems you had a year or two ago. You worked them all out.

If that is consistent in your world; that you work it out; remember to remain equanimous as you go. Why? Because it determines your experience.

So be cool, calm and considered. It will serve you; and all those around you.
